What is an awning?

An awning is a covering made of fabric or other materials. This is attached to a building’s exterior to provide shade and shelter from the elements. Awnings can be retractable or fixed in place.

What are the benefits of having an awning?

What types of awnings are available?

There are several types of awnings available, including retractable, fixed, motorised, manual, patio, window, door and commercial awnings.

What materials are awnings made of?

Awnings can be made from a variety of materials, including fabric, aluminium, steel, wood and acrylic. We offer aluminium and fabric awnings from the world’s leading manufacturers.

What is the maximum size an awning can be?

Our awnings can go up to seven metres in width with a maximum projection of four metres. It is best to speak to our friendly team to determine the most appropriate size for your specific needs.

Which awnings come with integrated lighting?

The Markilux 5010 and 6000 models and Weinor Cassita II, Semina Life and Opal models all come with integrated lighting as standard. However, many other models will allow for integrated lighting as an optional extra.

Can you have an awning with a greater projection than width?

Yes, we offer a product called the Markilux Stretch awning which can accommodate this.

I live in a bungalow or have a single-storey extension; can I have an awning?

Yes, but it is likely you would need to have a spreader or gutter type bracket.

What is the standard fitting height and the walk under height?

The standard fitting height is 2.8m, giving you a walk through height of 2.1m.

Can I customise any awning?

Yes, we offer many customisation options, including fabric type, colour and pattern, as well as hardware options.

How do I care for my awning?

Proper care and maintenance can extend the life of your awning. Regular cleaning and inspections are recommended and any repairs should be made promptly to prevent further damage.

How long is the guarantee?

Our awnings are backed by a five-year manufacturer’s guarantee, but with proper care they will last for a lot longer.

Can I install an awning myself?

Whilst it is possible to install an awning yourself, it is recommended to have a professional handle the installation to ensure it is safe and secure. Our in-house team of trained engineers will work quickly and efficiently to complete the installation, before giving you a demonstration and ensuring you are happy with the quality of our work.
